Did You Know? Unearthing Urban Creatives
January’s Awesome Ottawa award goes to Jason and Lindsay Machinski to support a new podcast celebrating Ottawa’s local artists and entrepreneurs.
“Our primary objective,” explains Jason, “is to shine a bright spotlight on Ottawa's rich and often hidden creative landscape. We believe that behind every piece of art, every entrepreneurial venture, and every creative endeavour there is a compelling story waiting to be told.”
“We want to ignite the spark of inspiration in our listeners,” he continues. “By showcasing the journeys, challenges, and triumphs of local artists and entrepreneurs, we hope to inspire others to pursue their own creative and business passions.”
“In a world that often feels disconnected,” says Jason, “our podcast also aims to create a sense of belonging within our local community. By highlighting the achievements and contributions of our neighbour's, we strengthen the bonds that hold our city together.”
“Ottawa's cultural fabric is a tapestry woven from the experiences of its residents,” Jason continues. “By sharing diverse talents and stories, we enrich our city's culture and heritage. We believe that a thriving arts and entrepreneurial scene not only adds vibrancy but also drives economic growth.”
“Finally, we recognize that the future belongs to those who dare to dream and create. By showcasing the creative journeys of our guests, we hope to nurture the next generation of artists and entrepreneurs, providing them with the inspiration and guidance they need to succeed.”
“We see this as not just a podcast,” says Jason, “but also a community-building initiative.”
“Did You Know? Unearthing Urban Creatives” will begin streaming by late spring or early summer 2024.
Jason and Lindsay run the Urban Art Collective, a local art hub in Hintonburg that also hosts the Hintonburg Night Market.
