Imagine not being able to have a beach experience.....the place where memories of fresh air, water and soaring seabirds absorbs the stressors of everyday life.
Each August the Special Events Committee organizes a bus trip to St. Lawrence Park Beach, which allows families and other community members facing social isolation and other barriers to come together for a BBQ and fun in the sun. The beach is wheelchair accessible, senior friendly in terrain and shade with a beautiful vista of the St. Lawrence seaway as Lakers glide by the Islands. A crescent sand beach allows for children to splash and play under the watchful eyes of lifeguards, staff and parents. What a beautiful worry free day for families in these stressful times. Last year we sold out 3 buses and had a waitlist of folks who did not get to attend. So sad.
