As a lifelong resident and passionate supporter of all things Gloucester, it has always been a dream of mine to have a Grand Banks Dory of my own to take on Adventures up and down the Coast, celebrating the Grand Banks Dory Trawling Fishery and sharing the character, integrity and constitution that made Gloucester Fishermen 'the Finest Kind"!
The dory will be built this Winter and completed by Spring when it will be outfitted and run through a series of trials in preparation for a 530-mile Adventure to Lunenburg, NS, Gloucester's Maritime sister port, departing after the 4th of July from Maritime Gloucester.
The dory will be named the "Heart o' Gloucester" (a play on the term "Out o' Gloucester") because no boat or rower more clearly define everything that Gloucester stands for.
