Willowood Community Youth Group is a resident run afternoon program for kids 5 and up. Our mission is to provide a positive place for self expression through creative art, crafts, painting, games, needle craft such as crocheting, knitting, sewing,baking and home work help and more.Some children are home alone after school until their parents arrives home from work. We are a low income Federal Housing neighborhood. Our children are from all different ethnic back grounds such as Arabic, African American, Asian snd Latino.Most of the younger kids are outside with no adult supervision. We want to have a positive impact on young people, improving self esteem, self confidence, improve better mental health and social emotional skills, and reducing risky behaviors that have been seen with teens in the neighborhood such as drinking and smoking out in the open.
