This project will be a collaboration between neighbourhood children and a professional mural artist. We plan to have a series of workshops to reconnect children with local green spaces, habitats and water systems. Children will make connections between the importance of caring for our local habitats, reducing the amount of waste they produce, and ensuring that garbage and plastics do not enter into our water systems and soil.

The children and the mural artist will build on their experiences with the natural environment to collaborate on a vibrant and beautiful mural for the Dentonia Park recreation building with text in predominant neighbourhood languages (i.e. English, Bengali, and Chinese).

We live in a diverse and vibrant neighbourhood where Dentonia Park is one of the only outdoor spaces for many children. Yet, the park is at times so littered with garbage that children cannot play freely. The intent of the mural will be to inspire and engage community members to take care of our green spaces and ecosystems.
