Painting program for low income kids
The Paint and Chill Experience is an after school painting program that creates a space for kids to become more innovative mentally through creative expression. Partnering with Joseph Ward, a local author of an educational book series that highlights iconic figures in history entitled "On the Shoulders of Giants," the PAC Experience intends to introduce a cultural aspect of knowledge through arts and education.
This outreach project will allow the youth to explore creative individuality through free flowing expression, while giving them better guidance and opportunities for them to succeed. By following my basic principles of design, the students will be able to develop team building skills through collaborative murals, become inspired by creating original portraits of their favorite heroes and gain access to their goals by painting self portraits for vision boards. At the end of each month, an exhibition will be held in honor of the students who participated, any pieces sold will go towards art scholarships for students interested in perusing a career in the arts.
Our goal at PAC is not only to help those children who don't have access to the arts, but also to construct a program for local artists to receive career opportunities within their area of expertise. Contracted artist will be able to exhibit their work for promotion and be responsible for teaching classes or assisting the youth that come to paint. As a result, the artists' participation will help build confidence within the youth that will shape them to become leaders in the creative community.
