Peas & Love Community Garden (Veganic)
We are planting the seeds of peace, love, and justice at the Peas & Love Community Garden. In a city where obesity is rampant, fast food restaurants abound, and little space is devoted to natural habitats, our garden will be an oasis for those who wish to restore themselves and reconnect with nature.
Crops will be grown to feed volunteer members as well as neighbors in need through the Manchester Area Conferences of Churches food pantry. We use veganic (vegan organic) farming methods such as cover crops and composted vegetation to enhance the soil, mulch with natural materials to suppress weeds, and companion planting to minimize disease and insect infestation.
The garden will also serve as an educational resource for children to discover where their food comes from, how it grows, and how to prepare nutritious and delicious meals made with fresh fruits and vegetables that they've grown. Anyone who wants to eat healthfully can learn how to, regardless of age, race, gender, income, or ability.
