We've come together to help you propel your awesome idea forward. Whether your idea is about bringing light to dark matter, generating higher yielding farmland in Sub-Saharan Africa or putting on a music festival in Lusaka, we're keen to support your ideas. We support both ideas that are still on paper and those that have launched.
Our trusteeship has come together to give away a 8,000 Kwacha grant every two months. The next submission deadline is Monday the 26th of September and we will announce the winning submission to following week. If you miss a deadline, no need to panic, your submission will simply be considered in the following month.
To apply, simply answer our three question application form at the bottom of this screen.
Things we love:
- Moonshot ideas - projects that think big and if they succeed, could change the world.
- Local ideas - projects that will make things better or brighter for people right here and now.
- Purposeful ideas - projects that creatively and responsibly solve some of the many challenges that surround us everyday.
- Empowering ideas - projects that help others achieve something great, or that grow as more and more people get involved.
- Achievable ideas - projects that not only sound exciting but are feasible and will get off the ground.
Things to Consider When Applying:
Have you started? What do people think?
All of the best ideas we receive are submitted by people who have started their project already (with little to no money spent) and have found some sort of market traction to prove to themselves and us that they’re on the right track. We’re not looking for you to have made millions of dollars or have massive followings but we want to see: That you’re so committed to the idea that you’ve already started without us; and You’ve received some sort of market traction
So what’s market traction?
Long story short, it can be almost anything that demonstrates that people want what you’re offering (for example: sales, number of downloads, social media following, viral videos, articles in the news, survey results or prototype feedback).
Tell us about your path to financial sustainability.
We don’t limit ourselves to for-profits or not-for-profits but any organisation, business, etc. needs money to survive. We’ve had projects get their first grant through us which has led to much larger grants and we’ve also helped other projects get off the ground to start generating revenue through sales.
In essence, we’re like you in that we don’t want to see your project fail so how does this money help you get your project to where you want it to go?
Finally, don't forget to have a succinct plan detailing exactly how you plan to spend the grant money to make your idea a reality.
