Wheelchair/scooter charging
I am trying to implement several wheelchair/scooter charging stations in one of the least populated, therefore least funded and resourced counties in Minnesota. They are from www.mobilitymatters2me.com. A bit over 500$, I'd like to put in the 2 main hospitals and 2 main senior dining.
There are about 10000 people, most of whom are senior citizens and many with physical disabilities. Many have to leave the county, a half-hour away or more to get chair/scooter repairs. Many of them cannot drive therefore relying on one mode of community transport to get them where they need to go.
During this time of covid, with uncertainty over which businesses can continue to operate or are able to stay in business, especially for immunocompromised and the elderly, this need for a few local charging stations to keep these residents moving has become even more apparent. If they are able to continue their independence their mental well-being will be greatly improved.
What our grantee is saying: "I'm excited to have this so I can assist in getting more people with mobility difficulties out into their communities and hopefully reduce some stresses associated with limited access to adequate battery care."
