The Reignite Residency
The Reignite Residency is a performing arts residency that works to alleviate the barriers and challenges of caregivers in the arts, with a special emphasis on those returning to the field. Intended for women, trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, and BIPOC individuals, this residency serves people who need a hand reemerging into the theatrical performing arts field. The first residency of its kind, the 14th Street Y is bringing its decades of experience cultivating and platforming artists to give those returning to their fields all the resources necessary to reignite their work.
The Residency is intended to create a supportive environment and an accessible entry point back into art by providing time, rehearsal space, technical, front of house, marketing and administrative support, and a stipend for the artist. This stipend is given to ensure that the artists can focus on themselves, their own care, and their work: it is vital to the execution of this program. Residents will also have a stage manager that will partner with the cohort to manage their rehearsals, meetings, and general project support to alleviate the additional burden of planning and administrative needs from the artist.
