The school community of Hebersham Public School is a multicultural community in a low-socio economic area. The school believes it is vital that our students develop an understanding and tolerance of cultural differences and awareness of nutrition through the cooking and sharing of food together. The proposed ‘Pizza in the Druitt’ project will improve educational and social outcomes for our school community through: increasing student engagement; creating a facility that can be used for community purposes; parent gardening and cooking groups to build community partnerships; developing cooperation, negotiation and team work skills; increasing self-esteem and confidence and allowing self-directed learning through engaging in cooking and garden activities. Every nation has a version of a pizza. This Pizza oven will bring us all together sharing a pizza from around the world. More importantly having the Pizza oven will be fun!
