NEWCASTLE ART PRIZE
The Society of Artists Newcastle Inc. will use an Awesome Foundation grant to support their Annual Art Prize, the ‘Newcastle Art Prize’ (NAP).
We are a ‘not for profit’ community art group and run art classes and workshops at our ‘clubhouse/workshop’ in Lambton Park every day of the week for community members, mostly active retirees.
Our Society was formed in 1973 and every year we have staged our major art exhibition, the Newcastle Art Prize.
It is one of Newcastle's largest art events with approx. 300 paintings hung over the 4 day period and up to 1000 visitors. We aim to keep our goal of giving up to $6000.00 in prize money to keep the standard of Newcastle's premier Art event happening. We rely on sponsorship to be able to do this and as we are a not for profit organisation over and above expenses we then donate 10% of profits to the Kids Club at John Hunter Hospital.
This year in 2016 it will be held on the first weekend in July, at Adamstown Uniting Church Hall on the corner of Brunker and Glebe Roads, Adamstown.
