Piqua Pride Community Wide (PBIS at PJHS)
Piqua Pride Community Wide - Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Kind
At the beginning of the 2016-17 school year, Piqua City Schools implemented PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports). Our ultimate goal is to improve overall school climate and lay foundations for building relationships that will pay dividends in the future. At school and and in the community, Piqua Junior High School students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and kind, which are the three district-wide expectations. We hope to develop a positive school environment by teaching all students the expectations for our junior high school and utilizing incentives when students demonstrate respect, responsibility, and kindness. By concentrating on positive behaviors, we hope to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment that will transcend into good citizenship in our community.
To continue this initiative in the 2017-18 school year, we are implementing several recognition and incentive programs. The utilization of Indian Cards will be one of these incentives (see attachment). Students will receive an Indian Card when a staff member observes them demonstrating respectful, responsible, or kind behaviors. Cards will be turned in for weekly, monthly, and quarterly drawings.
In addition to the Awesome Piqua grant, we will be applying for other grants and requesting donations from local businesses.
